EL YUCATECO

REBRANDING AND REDISIGN LOGO

This project explores a contemporary rebrand of El Yucateco, a well known Mexican hot sauce brand with a strong cultural identity. The goal was to modernize the visual language of the brand while preserving its heritage and authenticity.

The redesign focuses on simplifying and refining the original logo to create a cleaner, more recognizable identity that feels both traditional and contemporary. By updating the typography and visual structure, the new system allows the brand to communicate more clearly across packaging and modern digital platforms.

The result is a refreshed identity that honors the brand’s roots while positioning it for a new generation of consumers.

The process began with researching the cultural background of the brand and the Yucatán region to understand the visual language and symbolism connected to its heritage. From there, I explored different logo concepts that incorporated elements such as habanero peppers and stylized figures inspired by Mayan iconography.

LOGO EXPLORATION

Before arriving at the final logo, several visual directions were explored to understand how the brand could represent the cultural roots and bold personality of El Yucateco. These early concepts experiment with different visual symbols, including stylized figures and habanero peppers, referencing both the heritage of the Yucatán region and the core ingredient of the product.

PACKAGING DESIGN

FINAL LOGO

The geometric figure represents a stylized human form, symbolizing strength, tradition, and the connection to the origins of the sauce. By reducing the forms into clean, bold lines, the mark becomes more recognizable and adaptable across packaging and digital platforms.

The circular composition reinforces the idea of unity and balance while framing the character as the central identity of the brand. The warm red color was intentionally preserved to maintain the bold, spicy personality associated with the product.
